Decide, close and reopen
Deciding and closing are kept apart from answering, and Wingcert enforces it from each finding's history. This page is for whoever holds "Verify and close findings".
Route a finding
Section titled “Route a finding”A finding needs a post to answer it. Usually it comes routed — from the audit question, or from the area’s post on Audits › Setup. If not, open Route to a post, choose the Post, and save.
Decide on a plan
Section titled “Decide on a plan”When a finding is Plan submitted, open it and read The plan.
- Accept — select Accept the plan. The actions come into force and their owners are told.
- Return — open Return the plan, write What needs changing, and send it back. The finding goes to Returned.
You cannot decide on a plan you submitted yourself: You submitted this plan, so somebody else decides on it.
Change the dates
Section titled “Change the dates”Open Change the dates to move Plan due or Close by. Every change is recorded with your reason.
If you are answering the finding yourself, somebody else decides its dates.
Close a finding
Section titled “Close a finding”A finding can be closed once its plan is accepted and every action is Verified effective — the finding shows Ready to close.
-
Open the finding and go to Closing this finding.
-
Check Who may not close it, from its history. If your name is there, somebody else closes it.
-
Write Why it is closed. This closure note is what an auditor reads, and it cannot be changed afterwards.
-
Close it.
Reopen a finding
Section titled “Reopen a finding”If a closed finding turns out not to be fixed, select Reopen as a new finding. A new finding is raised that points back at this one. The original keeps its closure exactly as it was — the record of what was believed at the time is evidence too.
Withdraw a finding
Section titled “Withdraw a finding”Select Withdraw on a finding still being answered if it is no longer owed — raised in error, or a duplicate. It stays on the record with your reason. Once it has gone to be answered, withdrawing it needs Verify and close findings.
A finding from an audit received
Section titled “A finding from an audit received”Findings from an audit received also have Their side, where you record Our answer sent and They accepted it — the dates your answer went to the authority or customer, and when they accepted it.
