Start the fieldwork

On the audit’s page, the lead auditor selects Start the fieldwork. The audit moves to Fieldwork, and the dates you actually audited replace the planned ones.

Anybody on the team then selects Open the fieldwork.

Answer each question

Each question shows its reference and any Guidance written for it. Choose one of five results — on a keyboard, keys 1 to 5:

Result	Use it when
Compliant	You saw it, and it meets the requirement.
Not compliant	You saw it, and it does not. A finding is required.
Observation	Compliant, but worth raising — a finding can be drafted from it.
Not applicable	The requirement does not apply here.
Not seen	You could not check it on this visit.

Under What you saw, note what you found. Attach Photos or files — they are kept in the vault against this answer, and can never be replaced or deleted.

Recording compliant answers matters as much as the others: it is what lets Insights say what share of what was checked was compliant.

Raise a finding

From a Not compliant or Observation answer, open Raise a finding from this answer. It is filled in for you from the question — its references, the area, the station and the area’s post — and you can change any of it:

• Grade — your airline’s own grades.
• Finding, in a line — the short title.
• What was found — the full text.
• Answered by — the post that will answer it.

Raising again on the same answer edits the same draft, until the report is issued.

Issue the report

When every question is answered, the lead selects Issue the report:

The answers are frozen, each finding goes to the post that answers it, and the report is printed and sealed.

Issuing opens every finding, so each grade’s response clock starts that day. The audit moves to Reported.

The report PDF carries a QR code. Anybody can scan it to check the report is genuine. The check shows only the area, the fieldwork dates and the number of findings — nothing else.

If you see	What to do
One answer is not compliant and has no finding yet.	Raise a finding from that answer.
The lead auditor issues the report.	Only the lead can issue it.
Your auditor appointment does not stand today.	Your authorisation has lapsed or been suspended. See Auditors.

Close the audit

Once every finding from it is closed or withdrawn, somebody holding Close out completed audits selects Close the audit.

Working on a tablet

Fieldwork is designed for an iPad in the hangar: one question per screen, large targets, and it works in any tablet browser. If the connection drops, see Working with a poor connection.
